Terms of Use

These tools produce standard industry forms for you to check, complete and use at your own judgment. They are not legal advice, they are not a compliance service, and the person responsible for what a shipping document says is the person who signs it.

1. Using this site means accepting these terms

By using FreightPaperwork you agree to what follows. If you do not agree, the remedy is straightforward: stop using it. Most people never create an account, and for them there is nothing to close. If you did create one, you can leave a company or close the account outright from your account pages, and cancel a subscription from the billing page, without asking us.

2. What the service is

This site publishes two things. Document generators — the the generator on the homepage and the tools alongside it — which take information you type and lay it out as a printable PDF in your own browser. And reference guides about freight paperwork, written to be accurate and useful.

Both are free. Every generator is unlimited, needs no account, and carries no watermark — that is not a trial and it does not expire. A company that wants the site to remember things between visits can subscribe, which section 4 covers; nothing in this paragraph changes if it does not.

3. What the service is not

This matters more than the rest of this page, so it is stated plainly.

4. The paid subscription

Everything else on this page applies whether or not you pay. This section applies only if your company subscribes.

The plan is $29 per month for the whole company, however many people you invite. It adds saved shippers, consignees and carriers shared across your team, document history you can reopen, sequential document numbering, your logo on generated documents, and no advertising. It does not change the generators, which stay free, unlimited and usable without an account.

Who you are buying from

Payment is taken by Paddle, which is the seller of record for the subscription. Card details are entered on Paddle's own checkout and never reach this site. Paddle's terms apply to the payment itself, and the receipt and any invoice come from them.

Renewal and cancellation

The subscription renews automatically each month until it is cancelled. Cancel from your billing page, which opens Paddle's customer portal. Only an account owner can start or cancel a subscription; other people in the company can see the plan but not change it.

Cancelling stops the next payment. It does not end the period you have already paid for — everything keeps working until that period runs out. If a renewal payment fails, access continues while Paddle retries the card, because cutting a dispatch office off mid-shipment over an expired card helps nobody.

Refunds

There are no partial refunds for time already paid for. Cancel whenever you like and use the plan until the period ends. Nothing here affects a refund right you have by law, and billing disputes are handled by Paddle under its own buyer terms.

Price changes

The price may change. If it does, we will email the account owner at least 30 days before the new price applies, which is always before a renewal, so there is a full billing cycle in which to cancel instead. A price change never applies to a period already paid for.

What happens if the plan ends

Nothing is deleted. Saved parties and document history stay in the account and stay readable. They are your records, and holding them hostage is not a way to sell a subscription.

What stops is adding and changing. No new documents are recorded, saved parties cannot be added or edited, documents cannot be reopened from the history, and the logo stops printing. Deleting still works on both pages — erasing your own records is not something a lapsed plan should stand in the way of. The generators go on working exactly as they do for someone who never signed up, and the PDFs you already downloaded are yours regardless.

We keep that data until you delete it or close the account. There is no expiry timer on it, and closing the account is a button on your own account page rather than a request to us. Take an export first if you want the records — it is one file and it is the only copy you will get. What an account holds is set out in the privacy policy.

5. Your responsibility for what you produce

You are responsible for the accuracy of everything you enter and for the document that results. That includes the commodity description, the NMFC item number, the freight class, the weight, the declared value, and the correct identification of any hazardous material.

Shipping regulated material carries obligations that sit with the shipper by law, not with a form provider. If you are not certain a description is right, ask your carrier or a qualified consultant before the freight moves.

6. Accuracy of the guides

The reference content here is written carefully and checked against the underlying rules. It is also general, written for a United States domestic freight audience, and current as at the date shown on each page. Regulations change, carrier tariffs change more often, and a rule that is right in general may not be right for your lane, your commodity or your contract.

Where a page cites a statute or regulation, the citation is a pointer to the source, not a substitute for reading it.

7. Availability

The site is provided as is and as available. We do not promise it will be online at any given moment, that the PDF library will load from its content delivery network, or that a future browser will render everything the way today's browsers do. If the generator will not run, printing the page still gives you a usable blank form.

8. Intellectual property

The written guides, page designs, code and diagrams on this site belong to FreightPaperwork. You may read them, print them and share links to them.

Documents you generate are yours. We claim nothing over the contents of a bill of lading you produce here, and you may use it commercially without attribution or permission.

The generators use jsPDF, an open source library published under the MIT license by its authors. Standard bill of lading clause wording reproduced on generated documents derives from long- established industry form language.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, FreightPaperwork is not liable for any loss arising out of your use of this site. That includes freight loss or damage, denied or reduced claims, reclassification charges, rebills, detention, fines, penalties, delayed shipments, lost profits and lost data.

The generators are free to use, and no relationship beyond these terms is created between us by your use of them. If you need a guarantee about a shipping document, that guarantee has to come from your carrier or your advisers — a subscription buys saved addresses, history and numbering, and it does not buy a warranty about the documents themselves.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Acceptable use

Use the site for lawful freight purposes. Do not use it to produce documents intended to misrepresent a shipment, conceal regulated material, defraud a carrier, broker, insurer or customer, or evade a legal obligation. Do not attempt to disrupt the site or the people using it.

11. Advertising

Display advertising helps pay for the free tier. Advertising storage is denied by default and only enabled if you accept it through the cookie banner. Advertisements are selected by the advertising network and are not endorsements of the advertiser by us. How advertising data is handled is set out in the privacy policy.

A paid subscription includes no advertising. While a company's plan is active, no advertising code is served to anyone signed in to it.

Where we link out — to a regulator, a classification body, a carrier — we link because the source is useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. The date at the top of the page changes when they are. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which the site operator is established, and any dispute is subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.
